MAACH MARKET a Hackathon project

Inspiration:: The Wuhan marketplace in China was where Covid-19 was first traced. Since the pandemic, traditional public marketplaces have been closed due to excessive overcrowding, lack of social distancing, and the likely spread of Covid-19. This prevented many people from being able to buy fresh fish from the market due to fear of becoming ill especially in places like West Bengal. This is why we came up with the idea of Maach Market! "Maach" means fish in Bengali.

What it does:: Maach Market is a B2C online fish marketplace where users can choose a local fisherman, pick their fish, and get their fish delivered. The goal is to partner with local fishermen in West Bengal and Bangladesh to eliminate the middleman or public marketplace, so users can get their fish directly from the fishermen. We also use a "door-dash" style delivery service where a delivery person picks up the fish from the fisherman, packages it, and delivers it to the user.

Accomplishments that we're proud of:: We're proud to create a way for local fishermen to earn a livelihood on their own. We are also proud of creating a way for users in West Bengal and Bangladesh to purchase fish online without having to go to a traditional marketplace.

What we learned:: We learned that it takes teamwork to get a project finished. Everyone on the team contributed their skills and talents to make this project happen.

What's next for Maach Market:: As for future features, we plan to add a "request for a specific fish" section inside the "choose your fisherman" section so that people can request for fishes from their most trusted fisherman. Moreover, we plan to include a online 24/7 customer service chat box so our customers can receive the best service possible. We really hope to create a successful online business where users can buy their fish directly from local fisherman online. Built With domain.com site123
